DELE B2 is an official Spanish-language proficiency exam at the upper-intermediate level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It assesses reading, listening, writing, and speaking, and successful candidates receive a diploma issued through the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of Spain's Ministry of Education.

There is generally no requirement to hold a lower-level DELE certificate before registering for B2. Your difficulty will depend on your vocabulary range, listening experience, accuracy, and familiarity with the task types.

Start by taking a timed diagnostic test, then identify weaknesses in reading, listening, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and speaking. Practise with authentic or exam-style tasks, review why answers are correct, and write and record responses under realistic time limits. Build a revision plan that includes Spanish input every day and regular feedback on written and spoken work.

For writing, practise clear introductions, logically developed paragraphs, conclusions, linking expressions, accurate reference, and an appropriate formal or neutral register. For speaking, organise ideas with sequencing language, state and justify opinions, compare alternatives, describe problems, propose solutions, and narrate experiences with consistent tense control. Record timed answers and check whether your ideas are complete, cohesive, and easy to follow.

DELE examinations are offered in scheduled sessions during the year, but dates, registration deadlines, locations, and availability can change. Registration is normally completed through an Instituto Cervantes centre or another authorised examination centre. Consult the official DELE calendar before making plans because late registration may not be available.
